Better load capacity than the rack that came on my older Tern Link D8

I haven't reached the max load for the rack, but I intend to soon. I've been using the rack for two weeks. As I expected, this rack was compatible with my two Ortlieb panniers. One thing I enjoy about the design of rack is the length of the rack, which allows for plenty of placement options for the panniers. I prefer putting my panniers as far away from my pedals as possible, otherwise my feet hit the panniers mid-stroke because I'm tall (194 cm / 6' 4"). Thanks Tern! I appreciate the sturdy design, good price, and room for pannier placement options.

Awesome rack for other bikes too!

I saw this rack on my mother in law's Vektron, and really liked it. So much so, that I ordered one to place on a 20" wheeled bike I have from another manufacturer. It fit very nicely, although the upper stays had no extra length left after installing. Tern, make some longer stays to increase the applications. Getting a lightweight rack that allows Yepp mounting and has integral tail light mounting was perfect for this family tandem bike, now it can carry another kiddo! I am wondering if it would fit on my full size 28" wheel bike now. The other change I would make is a longer bungie... average size Amazon boxes have really been pushing the limits on the stock one, but I really like how its setup. Might have to find another longer one.

Great rack for TerraTrike rucumbent trikes

Have searched the internet over the past two years for a quality rugged cargo rack to use with TerraTrike's Adventure Panniers. These panniers utilize a locking mechanism to hold the panniers on firmly to a racks rail. Asked for many recommendations, and then remembered the Tern Cargo Rack. Another TerraTrike owner shows a photo of how they mounted the rack, which helped a lot. So I took a chance.

Tern’s Cargo Rack has some of the obvious advantages, and a few more that I had not expected.
● its ruggedness helps in loading and unloading the trike
● the rack’s end bar fir the hand comfortably, making hand-towing easy
● keeps rear lights out of the way, protected, and enhances its function
● panniers can be mounted in various positions. For me I prefer to mount more to the rear which keeps the weight of tools & supplies to the rearward side of the axle, which assists in keeping the rear wheel more firmly to the various surfaces I ride over
● ample room to carry items on top of the rack, like Chinese take-out (big advantage on a recumbent trike)
● this Tern rack fits well on the TerraTrike Rover and their Adventure Panniers works great with this rack!
● Finally, the rack’s design keeps weeds and twigs from jamming up inside.

Here is an ongoing photo collection of phots of this fabulous, rugged cargo rack:

Seems good to me!

I'm new to the cycling universe and this was my first rack. Given this, the rack was neither easy nor difficult to install. I do not know if this is because of my inexperience or because of the way Tern makes their racks. I have to pedal noticeably harder with the rack but that seems normal and it's really not a big deal. I should also mention that I used this rack with an older model Tern Verge folding bike and it fit no problem. These are just my observations of the rack. Overall, I needed the rack, it fits my needs, and it doesn't seem like it's going to break me or my bike.
