Holds the bottle firmly—no fear of it dropping off. Easy to install, and it doesn’t get it in the way at all. Excellent design.
I had ones from my other bikes but I tried this, lightweight & low cost. I can't remember if I needed extra screws, I think they were already on my S8i, or else I had some spares, a common metric hex-head screw size.
It matches the black paint perfectly, even its white stripes compliment my S8i. Looks factory original. Regarding function, it's a gripper!
Actually tends to crush my plastic water bottles a bit; I don't have any metal ones. But they don't get loose, and can't be more convenient to grab on the top tube. Not since drop-handlebar bottle cages were the style on my derailleurs in the early '60s have I had a bottle that accessible. (Although admittedly on really long rides with my road bike I wear a Camelbak water backpack, with a drinking tube and bite valve)
Likewise it grips commerical bottled water very tenaciously, if that's your choice. If you want to take along your favorite bottled spring or mineral water as is, without the extra step of transferring contents to a bike water bottle, or buy one while out riding, this cage should work for you.
This did not come with screws but after asking Tern what screws it takes a set showed up in the mail. The cage works great and looks clean but it does scuff up my metal hydroflask.
Did not come with screws to attach to Node D8. My Tern contact mailed screws to me and I was able to install after removing the plastic plugs.
Clean design, simple installation. Works beautifully with a small stainless steel bottle: easy in, easy out, secure hold.
