I purchased the storm box along with a set of the 52L panniers for my GSD R14. The quality of the storm box is super high quality. It has a lots of functionality in the form of large capacity space on the back of the bike. The box also has a large pocket for extra organization on each corner of the box. But honestly the total capacity is a bit deceptive in that larger or bulky item will have trouble getting passed the frame of the bike and into the bottom space of the storm box. In comparison I never have a problem carrying anything in my 52L panniers. So much so that I prefer the panniers over the storm box. The storm box shines when carrying kids in colder or inclement weather and you want to keep them completely out of the elements. That is why I stated that it depends on rider usage.

It’s easy enough to switch from storm box to panniers when I need. But I don’t use the storm box nearly as much as I thought that I would. I’d still recommend it.
